TAMIU Offers Variety of Summer Camps for All

Give your child the opportunity to improve their sports skills, learn a new language, develop their artistic talents or explore their imagination this summer at Texas A&M International University’s summer camps.

Tuition and meeting times vary for camps. TAMIU employees are eligible for discounts. Registration is currently underway.

TAMIU Department of Fine and Performing Arts Camps

Camps include one hour of instruction in art, an hour of dance and an hour of piano (beginner level). Campers ages 6 – 8 will meet from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Campers ages 9 – 12 will meet from 1 – 4 p.m. Session I is scheduled for June 1 – 11, Monday – Thursday; Session II, June 15 – 25, Monday – Thursday. Fee is $200 per session. Contact the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at 326.2654 or visit offices in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts 217.

Classes for teenagers and adults are also available. Art classes, painting and/or drawing, will meet June 1 – 25, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 – 8 p.m. Beginner and intermediate piano will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 – 8 p.m. Cost is $350.

Advanced/intermediate piano students should contact Dr. Fritz Gechter, associate professor, music and piano, at 326.2639.

TAMIU Athletics

TAMIU offers a variety of summer sports camps—baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. Fees and meet times vary. The camps are geared towards providing a quality experience to students of varying athletic skills. Each camp is directed by a TAMIU head coach and supported by assistant coaches and current student-athletes. For more information, click on tamiu.edu/sportcamps

South Texas Writing Project

“Summer Camp Adventures in Literature and Writing” will meet June 8 – 19, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m., and is open to students in eighth – tenth grade. Cost is $200.

“Exploring the Universe Through Writing” will meet July 6 – 10, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and is open to students in third – fifth grade. Cost is $150.

“Reading and Writing in the Digital Age” for students in fifth – eighth grade, will meet July 6 – 17, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Cost is $200.

TAMIU International Language Institution

ILI Exclusive Summer School includes French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese and cultural arts and crafts and will meet June 1 – June 25, Monday – Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Open to children ages 9 – 13. Tuition is $600. TAMIU employees get a 25 percent discount. For more information, contact Maribelle Gonzalez Garcia 326.2724.

TAMIU Youth Summer Camps

Camps include Ultimate Robotics Camp, Kinder Camp, Children’s Summer Workshop, Academic Camp, Summer Academy and Artistic Camp. Children from three years to 11th graders are eligible to participate. Tuition varies from $175 - $375. TAMIU employees receive a 10 percent discount on camps for their children and grandchildren. Camp start dates vary. All day campers also receive a 10 percent discount. Deadline to register without a late fee is May 29 and June 4 for the Robotics Camp. For more information, click on tamiu.edu/contedu
