Essentials of Project Management Subject of Non-Credit TAMIU Course

Get the tools necessary for successful project management at a non-credit certificate course offered at Texas A&M International University Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27.

Fee for “Essentials of Project Management for Any Type of Business” is $250 per participant and $200 for TAMIU employees, students and alumni.

Registration will also be held on Friday, June 26 at 6:30 p.m. before the course meets from 7 – 9 p.m. The course will resume Saturday, June 27 at 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. and again from 1 – 4 p.m.

This non-credit course is targeted at all managers and individuals who are new to project management, “accidental” project managers (professionals for whom project management is a secondary part of their jobs), business analysts, subject-matter experts from any field who contribute to projects, managers responsible for projects and experienced project managers looking to review current tools, techniques and processes.

Participants will get an overview of the framework of project management, discuss key concepts, terminology and rules and explore identifying and assigning ownership to estimate the work, and create the budget, among other topics pertaining to project management.

Course instructor Rodolfo Portillo is an adjunct professor of business logistics management at TAMIU. He has worked as a business management consultant for more than 15 years to manufacturers, construction firms, freight forwarders, distributions centers, international trade companies and service firms.

Portillo holds a B.A. in civil engineering, an M.B.A. and project management institute certification.
