Strike up the band! It’s time for the Texas A&M International University Fourth Annual Band Extravaganza Monday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The TAMIU Dustdevil Band and the TAMIU Brass Choir will perform selections ranging from school marching band songs to 1960’s popular ballads to classical pieces by Aaron Copland.

The program also includes the world premiere of “Ovation,” written by TAMIU’s Dr. David Manuel Garcia, director of bands.

Guest performers, the Vidal M. Treviño School for Fine Arts Ovation Brass, and the TAMIU ensembles will combine for three selections, including “Ovation,” which was written for the Laredo ensembles.

“This is the beginning of great musical and artistic partnerships in Laredo,” said Dr. Garcia.

The Ovation Brass is under the direction of John Reimund.

For more information, contact Garcia at 326.2640 or david.garcia@tamiu.edu or visit offices in CFPA 116.

University office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m, Monday – Friday.
