AutMus Fest Ready to Roll Saturday

The 5th Annual AutMus Fest, Texas A&M International University’s signature community arts event, promises to be fun for the whole family Saturday, Oct. 10, from 3 p.m. – 1 a.m. on the University’s Front Lawn.

Drawing over 10,000 attendees with music, food and activities for all ages every year, AutMus Fest will feature a music genres ranging from Tejano to Rock.

Vince Neil, lead singer of Mötley Crüe, will occupy center stage. Perfomers also include The Morning After, Hannia, Shazz, Love at War, Crooked X, Nico Vega, The Toadies, Zezible, and Bobby Pulido.
Other offerings include the Brontosaurus Rib Cook-Off Contest, a belly dance performance, a rock wall, paint ball and a special area for children to play.

Pre-sale individual tickets are $20 and available at all Pocket Communications retail stores in Laredo. Tickets at gate cost $25. Entrance is free for children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult.

AutMus Fest serves as the backdrop to the University’s 40th Anniversary celebration this year. Event proceeds benefit the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

While limited seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, attendees are welcome to bring personal chairs and blankets. A children’s area will feature games sponsored by the Laredo Bucks.
Vince Neil will drop the puck at the Laredo Bucks pre-season game against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The AutMus Fest Committee will sell raffle tickets at the game to win an acoustic Fender guitar autographed by Neil. Proceeds benefit TAMIU student scholarships and the Skylar Neil Foundation.

This year’s event sponsors are Miller Light, Border Media, La Posada Hotel, the City of Laredo, KGNS, CW, Telemundo Laredo, Time Warner Cable, Hal’s Landing, Pocket Communications, Villarreal and Romero PLLC, Laredo Bucks, Allstate Moreno Insurance Agency, Allegiant Air, and International Bank of Commerce (IBC).
