Find out about programs managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Hispanic-Serving Institutions (USDA HSI) office Thursday, Oct. 15 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M International University Office of Career Services in Student Center 120.

University students, faculty, administrators and alumni are encouraged to attend.

“A representative from the USDA HSI office will be here to offer information on internships and scholarships for students and various career paths within the Department,” said Laura Martinez, director, employer relations.

“For faculty and administrators, there will be information on a fellowship program that could potentially take them to Washington, D.C. for part of the summer,” Martinez added.

The USDA HSI national program forms partnerships with Hispanic-serving institutions and other public and private entities in support of a workforce and educational program delivery reflective of the needs of a diverse population.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about paid and volunteer internships and scholarships.

Faculty and administrators can learn more about the USDA E. (Kika) De La Garza Fellowship Program. The program has two tracks: science fellows and education fellows.

The USDA also offers sponsorships to undergraduate and graduate students to attend state, regional and national conferences. To learn more, visit the conference sponsorship Web site.

For more information, contact Martínez at 326.2264 or laura.martinez@tamiu.edu or visit offices in Student Center 114D.
