Is your house overrun with used CDs or DVDs? Give them a new home and future by donating them to the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium by Friday, Oct. 23.

“The CDs and DVDs will be used by young children as materials for astronomy projects,” explained Laura C. Jimenez, associate director, LBV Planetarium.

The Planetarium’s mission is to enrich the exposure of new horizons in the sciences and arts to the University community, area school districts and the entire South Texas region. Since April 2005, more than 85,000 school-aged students have visited the LBV Planetarium.

The LBV Planetarium’s educational programs are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) initiatives. Curriculum includes hands-on activities while on site, as well as assignments to take back to their classrooms.

Drop donations off at the TAMIU Lamar Bruni Vergara Science Center, room 301 or call 326.2463 for pickup.

University office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
