Now in its 13th year and a local favorite tradition, the Texas A&M International University Ballet Folklórico’s Las Posadas has expanded to two nights and moved to a new venue. Las Posadas is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Theatre.

General admission is $5 and free for children ages 10 and younger.

The event features performances by the TAMIU Ballet Folklórico performing dances from different regions in México. The TAMIU Ballet Folklórico Juvenil and the TAMIU Mariachi Internacional, directed by Jerry Quintero, will also perform.

The TAMIU Ballet Folklórico began Las Posadas as a way to preserve the traditional Mexican posada and regional Mexican dances.

Las Posadas is a re-enactment of the procession that Joseph and Mary made through Bethlehem. During Las Posadas, guests stroll through the TAMIU campus during the re-enactment, concluding at the CFPA.
