Choirs will sing; dancers will dance; hot chocolate will flow and empanadas will entice while children take their pictures with Santa Claus and remind him they’ve been good at the traditional Texas A&M International University Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Great Room.

This event is free and open to the public.

“As the University has in the past few years, we are again inviting the public to join us at our Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, that has become a long-standing tradition,” said Juan Gilberto García Jr., associate director of recruitment and school relations, Office of Recruitment and School Relations.

In addition to lighting up a giant Christmas tree inside the Killam Library Great Room, visitors will also see the trees on the University’s front lawn—32 trees—light up that evening.

“TAMIU is one of the most beautiful campuses in the state and this is a great way for us to showcase its grandeur. This is a young and vibrant campus full of campus life and we are looking to building on our traditions.

“We highly encourage students to take a small break from their finals and join us at the Ceremony and of course, we also encourage our TAMIU employees and their families and the community at large to attend,” García added.

The event is being organized by the TAMIU Campus Activity Board (CAB), the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Recruitment and School Relations.
