Take a trip through México without leaving the city at the upcoming Texas A&M International University 11th Annual Master Folklórico Workshop and Festival Concert Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU CFPA Theatre.

General admission is $10.

The showcase Concert features ballet folklórico dance groups from around the region participating in the Workshop.

“The purpose of the Workshop is to expose students to dance lessons, help folklórico dance groups increase their repertoire with regional dance and expose the general public to the beauty of Mexican Folklórico,” said Sandra E. Leal, director, TAMIU Ballet Folklórico.

“The Ballet Folklórico Festival Concert was created in an effort to lower the workshop cost for all participants. All participating groups will showcase their dance skills to the general public and the proceeds from the concert help defray the costs of bringing the maestros,” explained Leal.

Maestros Miguel Ruiz, Ambar González-Lomas and Tizoc Fuentes will lead the workshops featuring dances typical of Dia de los Muertos, dances from Veracruz, Yucatán and northern Tamaulipas and more.
