TAMIU SBDC Offers Six Month Certification Program

Article information The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will kick off its Small Business Management Certificate Program Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.

The Small Business Management Program is designed for the aspiring entrepreneur or existing business owners. Its goal is to provide essential business tools. Program completion will enhance management skills and provide a good foundation for success.

The first course of the program, “The Art of Starting a Business: Basic Business Essentials,” starts Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at TAMIU’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center, room 125.

Requirements for completing the program include: a one-time enrollment fee of $35, attending the required 12 courses, completion of two online courses within six months of starting the program, and scheduling an advising appointment with an SBDC-Certified business advisor.

Upon completion of the program, a reception will be held in honor of the participants. Each will receive a certificate of completion recognizing their accomplishment, and will earn a total of 38 hours or 3.8 continuing education units (CEUs).

The Small Business Management Program is valued at $250; those enrolling now pay only the enrollment fee.
