'Legacy of Galileo' Explored at Sanchez Lecture
More than 400 years ago Galileo Galilei looked up into the sky with his spyglass and became the father of modern astronomy. To mark the anniversary, Texas A&M International University A. R. Sanchez, Sr. Distinguished Lecture Series concludes its season honoring the man responsible for modern science. “Legacy of Galileo: An Encounter With Genius,” by Rusty Bynum and portrayed by Roy Henderson, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.
Admission is free and open to the public.
In a career spanning more than 50 years in the theatrical arts and over five contents, Henderson has created, directed performed and advised presentations of all kinds.
Henderson spent five years with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company in England that included a command performance of the title role in “Henry VIII” for Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family. He spent six years in Southeast Asia with the British Armed Forces Entertainment Unit, mostly in the Middle East, and traveled to South Africa and Europe on tour with a variety of
theater groups.
He has also appeared in many films including: “Day of the Jackal” and “The Eagle Has Landed.”
He is currently the artistic director of Pamassus Productions, Inc., a non-profit regional professional touring company based in Tennessee. He is also a principal facilitator for many Pamassus Institute Leadership Programs and Podium Master Public Speaking and Presentation Workshops.
Bynum began her writing career in Colorado working as a copywriter and then account executive in an advertising and marketing agency. She eventually became vice president and a partner in the agency, but sold her partnership to pursue writing full time in Alabama.
She has written technical military training manuals, advertising copy, public relations materials, short stories, stage plays and much more. Bynum lives on Monte Sano Mountain in Huntsville, Ala., with her husband, three dogs, cat and flocks of wild birds.
