Wanted: students interested in performing for large crowds, marching to a different drummer and possibly receiving scholarships.

Are you interested? Then strike up the band! The Texas A&M International University Dustdevil Band is looking for musicians and color guard members for Fall 2010.

Registration for Summer and Fall 2010 is currently underway.

“No auditions are necessary, but musicians must have band experience. Previous color guard experience is great, but not necessary. Slots are open to TAMIU students and LCC and Early College High School Students through dual and concurrent enrollment,” announced Dr. David M. García, director of bands, TAMIU.

“When classes begin, Marching Band is offered for credit—MUEN 1137/3137. We also have positions available with scholarship and academic credit for student technical staff,” Dr. García added.

During the Fall semester, the TAMIU Marching Band performs most Friday evenings, at select TAMIU soccer games, one or two festivals and Commencement.

Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 4:30 – 6 p.m.

Participation in the TAMIU 2010 Band Camp is mandatory for all those participating at the start of the Fall semester.

The 2010 Band Camp is scheduled Sunday, Aug. 15 – Thursday, Aug. 19.

There is no fee for Band Camp.
