Three Finalists Named for TAMIU AD, Public Forums Set

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) vice president for Finance Juan J. Castillo announced this week that three finalists have been selected for the University’s Athletics Director position. All three candidates will visit campus this month and will participate in public forums during their visits to TAMIU.

The three finalists are Dr. Leonard Nardone , Dr. Thomas Tallach, and Kevin Steele.

Dr. Nardone has over 30 years of experience as a coach and administrator at the intercollegiate level. He has been the Associate Dean for University Sports at American University of Beirut since 2007. Nardone has served as Athletics Director at three institutions: Genesee Community College (N.Y.), Sheldon Jackson College (Alaska) and Philadelphia University (Pa.). (Please note that the date for this forum changed to Wednesday, May 12. Time: TBA.)

Dr. Tallach has served as the Director of Athletics at Centenary College (La.) since August, 2007. Before taking that position, he gained extensive experience as an administrator at Texas A&M University-Commerce and Tarleton State University. Tallach served as interim Athletic Director at Commerce for 18 months in 2004-05.

Steele has been the Director of Athletics at Mid-America Nazarene University in Kansas since July, 2008. He gained experience as an AD at three institutions before taking that position: California Baptist University, Blinn College (Texas) and Redlands College (Okla.).

The public forums for all three candidates will be held from 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. on the following dates in either the Lamar Bruni Vegara Science Center (LBVSC) or Western Hemispheric Trade Center (WHTC):
