Internationally renowned guitar trio Los Tres Reyes will perform with Texas A&M International University’s Mariachi Internacional at a special concert Friday, April 30 at TAMIU’s Center for the Fine and Performing Theatre.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. and is part of TAMIU’s Hispanic Heritage Concert Series. Entrance is $10 at the door and proceeds benefit the TAMIU Scholarship Fund.

Trio Los Tres Reyes, comprised of brothers Gilberto and Raul Puente as well as Bebo Cárdenas, began recording in 1957. It has recorded more than 18 records, which became international hits and earned Golden Record status for sales of 10 million copies. In particular, Gilberto Puente is considered to be the best requinto guitar player in the world by international music critics.

The TAMIU Hispanic Heritage Concert Series promotes the music of South Texas. From the Trio Romántico to the festive sounds of the mariachi, accordion riffs of the conjunto and the heart and soul of the Tejano orchestra, the Series aims to bring performances of music which are well instilled in the region’s culture.
