A special lecture on the Declaration of Independence and the Founding Fathers will be held at Texas A&M International University’s Student Center room 236 on Thursday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the Children, Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution, the lecture will feature SAR chapter president Rick Ramirez.

It will focus on the Declaration of Independence and what the Founding Fathers did to insure a free country today — providing insight into the nation’s ancestors, and motivation to better celebrate the July 4 holiday.

Ramirez is chapter president of the Laredo SAR Chapter he founded in May 2001. He is also one of the many descendants living in Laredo who share a revolutionary ancestor in Patrick Hendry, best known for his rousing “liberty or death” speech.
