TAMIU Student Activities Plans a Week of Involvement

Having experienced their first week of classes, Texas A&M International University students are now in the groove of things and are ready to enjoy campus life. To help them find out what’s available, the TAMIU Office of Student Affairs planned “Dustdevil Life/Involvement Week” from Aug. 30 – Sept. 4.

While these events are free and open to TAMIU students, students must be prepared to show their University ID.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, Aug. 30: “Maroon Mob Day” at the Student Center (SC) rotunda from noon – 2 p.m. Activities include learning/singing the fight song, most spirited student, pictures with Dusty and Campus Activities Board Coke float mixer with mini hamburgers.

Tuesday, Aug. 31: “U be the Leader” at the SC food court from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Students can pick up and fill out orientation leader applications, Leadership TAMIU applications, Freshman LIDER applications, Student Conduct Board applications and Honor Council Applications.

Wednesday, Sept. 1: Learn how to get involved at the Student Government Association (SGA) Organizational Fair in the SC rotunda from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The evening’s entertainment is “Hypnotic Intoxication” by Keith Karkut, SC 236, 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 2: Find out how to be “Healthy, Fit, Successful” at the Kinesiology Wellness Recreation Center from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Activities include: recreational sports, Student Health blood drive, student counseling (Cards for Kids), Career Services, Relaxation 101 and Café du Monde, sponsored by International Programs.

End the day with “Iron Man 2” on an outdoor screen at 8 p.m. at the SC patio.

Friday, Sept. 3: International Dinner by SGA in SC 203 at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 4: Enjoy the music at AutMus Fest to be held in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library front lawn. The festival starts at 4:30 p.m.
