TAMIU Ed Professor Named Recipient of Hensarling Award

A Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) faculty member has been selected for an award recognizing achievement in public education administration doctoral coursework, engagement in scholarly activities and potential for future scholarly contribution.

Dr. Lynn Hemmer, assistant professor, TAMIU College of Education, department of Professional Programs, will receive the 2010-2011 Paul R. Hensarling Distinguished Graduate Student Award in Nov. 17 at the Administrative Leadership Institute (ALI) Banquet ceremonies in College Station.

Dr. Mario S. Torres Jr., Texas A&M University associate professor and program chair, notified Dr. Hemmer of the Award, observing, “your record as a student was exceptional and you have certainly exhibited the same qualities as a school leader, professor and scholar, making you truly deserving of this Award.”

Hemmer earned her Ph.D. in Educational Administration at Texas A&M University. Her M.Ed. in Educational Administration was also received at A&M. Her B.S. in Geology was undertaken at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Prior to joining TAMIIU, she was both a teacher and administrator in the San Antonio area in public and higher education.  She joined the TAMIU College of Education faculty in 2009.
