Hear music written by Dizzie Gillespie, Duke Ellington and Eddie van Halen and others at the upcoming Fifth Annual Texas A&M International University Band Extravaganza. The show is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert also features selections by the TAMIU Dustdevil Marching Band, including highlights from their 2010 Halftime Show.

The TAMIU Jazz Big Band and singers will perform standards such as “Mack the Knife,” “Satin Doll” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”

Many student soloists will be featured.

“Playing music is all about emotion, and it provides an opportunity to show the audience my interpretation of the music,” says Selena González, a senior from Carrizo Springs.

González will be featured on Jimmy Davis’s “Lover Man.”
