This spring, Texas A&M International University’s international students, or students interested in TAMIU’s growing study abroad opportunities will find their needs addressed in a new setting, the University’s Office of Student Affairs.

“The Office of Student Affairs has recently been expanded to include international student services”, said Jerry Alva, director of Student Affairs.

“This seemed to us a logical home for our important international student services and Study Abroad programs,” said Alva, “Student Affairs has long dedicated itself to preparing students to become engaged members of a diverse, dynamic, and global society. Our Office is guided by the principles of discovery, learning, serving, leading and succeeding. Now, by including our important international component we can better offer students a direct means of campus involvement, truly preparing students to go global.”

“Working in concert, the Student Affairs staff will be joined by the familiar staff of international student service specialists , both working together to better direct international education and international student services in TAMIU campus life,” Alva concluded.

TAMIU students interested in TAMIU campus life or study abroad can contact the Office of Student Affairs at 956.326.2280, visit offices located in the Student Center, room 226, or e-mail studentaffairs@tamiu.edu

University offices are open through Thursday, Dec. 23, closing Dec. 24 - Jan.2 and reopening Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Classes for the Spring Semester begin Jan. 18. Registration information is available online, 24/7 at tamiu.edu
