Warmer weather signals not only the nearing of summer, but also the end of the spring semester. To help students relieve any anxiety, the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Office of Student Affairs and Campus Activities Board (CAB) has planned a couple of events including Thursday’s Third Annual Easter Egg Hunt and a Pre-Exam Jam later this month.

The events are free, but they are open only to current TAMIU students.

At the TAMIU Third Annual Easter Egg Hunts, students will get a chance to join the mad dash to find hidden Easter eggs for the chance to win prizes. The Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for students Thursday, April 21 at 10 a.m. in the TAMIU Lamar Bruni Vergara Memorial Garden.

“Now in its third year, the Easter Egg Hunt has gained a big following among students at the University,” said Miguel A. Treviño, associate director of student activities and leadership.

“It’s a great way for students to release some stress and reminisce about their younger days and t also allows our international students to experience this unique tradition,” he explained.

Students will have the opportunity to win flash drives, movies and other great prizes.

“As the year winds down, the Campus Activity Board (CAB) and the Office of Student Affairs invite students to a day of fun and games to de-stress before the start of final exams and to mark the end of a successful year,” Treviño said.

This year, the Pre-Exam Jam is scheduled for Thursday, April 28 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Students will be able to enjoy an array of activities in the Student Center (SC) patio and Lamar Bruni Vergara Memorial Garden, including a gladiator joust, team challenge course, bungee run and more.

“In addition to all those games, we will also be holding a hot wing eating contest, a Battle of the DJs competition where students vote for their favorite artist and student opportunities to win some great prizes,” he added.

Treviño said hundreds of students turn out every semester to take part in the tradition. For more information, contact Treviño at mtrevino@tamiu.edu or 956.326.2280 or visit offices in SC 226.

University office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
