March of Dimes Sponsor is Tops

STRIPES stores, a sponsor of the March of Dimes, is being acknowledged as a top sponsor for a successful mobile campaign at its Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico stores which raised over $1.1 million. The nation’s premier annual walking event, March for Babies, is held in 900 communities across the country, involving more than 7 million people.

Customers stopping in for gas, food and snacks at their neighborhood STRIPES store during the month of December made donations of $1 to help save babies in their community. Over $64,000 was raised in Laredo.

Laredo’s March for Babies is Saturday, April 30 at 9:00 a.m. at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). Area residents are encouraged to register and raise funds for lifesaving research and educational programs at marchforbabies.org.

Laredoans Carolina and Nephtali Garibay and their children are the 2011 Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes’ Laredo Division March for Babies.

March for Babies is sponsored by H-E-B, Macy’s, Stripes, BBVA Compass Bank, A-1 Collision Center, Laredo Medical Center, Brown Hyundai, IBC Bank, BioLife Services, Wells Fargo and Molina Healthcare. The 2011 national March for Babies sponsors are K-Mart, Farmers Insurance Group, Cigna, Famous Footwear, Sanofi Pasteur, Bayer, FedEx, United Airlines, Mission Pharmacal, and First Response.
