Step into spring at the upcoming Texas A&M International University annual Spring Band Concert Tuesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Concert features the TAMIU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. David Manuel García, director of bands and TAMIU assistant professor of music.

The program includes Khatachturian’s “Sabre Dance,” the “Pepita Greus” pasodoble and Symphonic Dance #3, “Fiesta” by Clifton Williams. Also featured is the world premiere of “Two Copland Dances,” a setting of a minstrel song and a Shaker Tune in the style of Aaron Copland.

Dr. García offered other interesting insights about the program.

“One interesting composition ‘Tranzendental Danse of Joi’ by James Bonney, uses clay pots and five-gallon buckets in the percussion section,” he explained.
