TAMIU Phi Kappa Phi Initiates 60 Friday

Texas A&M International University’s Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 296 will initiate 60 members in Spring Chapter Initiation ceremonies to be held Friday, May 6 at 6 p.m. in the TAMIU Student Center Auditorium.

Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and largest all-disciplinary honor society and was initiated at TAMIU in 2005. Chapter president Dr. John Kilburn will preside over the meeting.

Graduate students to be initiated include Julie Elizabeth Barrera, Cesar Contreras Faz, Odalys Michelle Crespo, Gowtham C. Dronavali, Kwangseok Hong, Tina L. Kim, Patrik A. Mildner, Manuel Moya and Juan Diego Serna Torres.

Undergraduate students are, seniors: Adriana P. Aun, Jorge L. Aviles, Jr., Andrea Deyanira Beattie, Velia Davila Toscano, Zoila Lidia Saenz Domínguez, Anale D. Dovalina, Selina Fuentes, Barbara P. García, Adolfo Garza, Andrea Giovanna Garza, Tanya Denise González, Rhonda Lee Guerra, Doreen Hanke, Claudia Hechter, Anibal Jimenez, Elsa K. Madrigal, Alina Martínez, Arlyn Martínez, Anali Theresa Mena, Iracema M. Palacios, Nahyeli Anais Plasencia, Lilliana Rivera, Ovidio René Narvaez Rodríguez, Erika E. Rojas, Carolina Sánchez, Yazmin Silva, Silvia Guadalupe Solis Garza, Jessica O. Treviño, Nidia Yanez and María Fernanda Zarate.

Garza, Joel Alexis Jurado, EmmanuelLucio, Graciela Martínez, Daisy R. Moore, Denise Arlene Ramos, Ana María Vargas and Montserrat Vargas.

Faculty, staff and alumni being initiated include Ken Hung, Balaji Janamachi, Oscar Enrique Reyna and Marivic Torregosa.

Founded in 1897, The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi annually inducts over 32,000 student, faculty, professional staff and university alumni members from more than 280 select colleges and universities like TAMIU.

Those elected to membership include the upper 7.5 percent of last-term juniors and the upper 10 percent of seniors, the upper 10 percent of graduate students,along with outstanding faculty and alumni. The PKP motto is "Let the Love of Learning Rule Humanity."
