Want to learn how to teach a fun, cardio party class? Join the Turbo Kick®  and PiYo™ fitness instructor training classes at Texas A&M International University.

Trainings will be held Saturday-Sunday Aug. 6-7, from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the TAMIU Kinesiology Wellness Recreation Center. A PRO training will also be offered for those who wish to improve their exercise form and technique, but do not plan to be an instructor.

There will also be a free Turbo Kick and PiYo Master Class tomorrow, Friday at 6 p.m. at the Rec Center. Admission is open to the public.

“Turbo Kick® is a one-hour, energy-packed cardio workout that incorporates kickboxing elements while PiYo™ is a fun exercise that blends Pilates and yoga movements,” said Denise Schuster, TAMIU associate director of Recreational Sports. Chalene Johnson, creator of Turbo Jam®, Turbo Kick® and PiYo™, also recently announced that Turbo Kick® participants can burn up to 800 calories in one hour.

“These exercises provide a good way to get fit and healthy in a fun way,” Schuster explained, “The benefit of receiving the instructor training is that once you train, you have the possibility to teach these classes at fitness facilities around town.”

Registration cost for the Turbo Kick® and  PiYo™ instructor training is $229 each. For those who want to improve their exercise technique through the PRO training, the cost is $195 each.

Sign up for both Turbo Kick® and  PiYo™ instructor trainings and receive a $50 discount, Schuster said.
