The Chronicle of Higher Education has named Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) one of its  “Fastest Growing Campuses, 2004-2009” for Public Master’s universities surveyed in its Aug. 21 edition.

TAMIU was ranked 5th in a 20-member category that only included two other Texas universities, the University of Houston-Victoria and the University of Texas-Brownsville. For the survey period, TAMIU showed a 50 percent increase in growth from 4,269 to 6,419 students.

The Chronicle based its findings on analysis of U.S. Education Department data. The categories used are those issued by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 2005.

Last Fall, the University posted the highest enrollment in its history with 6,853 students attending.

The Fall semester 2011 at TAMIU began Thursday.  Late registration, with late fees assessed, continues through Wednesday, Aug. 31.
