Introduce your child to the pleasure of stories with “Saturday Story Hour” offered by the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Teachers’ Club at the Laredo Public Library main branch, 1120 East Calton Road, from 2 – 3 p.m. from Oct. 1 – Dec. 17.

This program is free and open to children ages three – eight, who must be accompanied by an adult.

“Saturday Story Hour” introduces children to the joy of reading, develops excitement about books and encourages a lifelong love for books and literature and explores a different theme each week.

October’s schedule is as follows:

Children will explore “Colors” on Oct. 1, “Llama Llama Red Pajama” on Oct. 8, “Food” on Oct. 15, “Robots” on Oct. 22, and “Halloween” on Oct. 29.

“ ‘Saturday Story Hour’ is a family-friendly experience. Through this program, the Club hopes to foster parent/adult-child interaction through their participation in the games and creative activities related to reading,” explained Dr. Sandra Garrett, TAMIU assistant professor of curriculum and instruction and faculty advisor.
Children’s librarians will help share their expertise and help select age-appropriate books for Club members to read.

Garrett provides support to the Club by providing training, supervising, monitoring and assisting with evaluating club activities.
