TAMIU Registrar Reyna Named TACRAO President

Texas A&M International University registrar Oscar Reyna will be named president-elect of the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO) at its Nov. 7 Annual Conference in San Antonio.

“I am humbled by my election by my TACRAO colleagues and look forward to helping to lead TACRAO in the continued development and growth of our vital profession.  This is a challenging time for higher education in Texas and nationwide, but our TACRAO members are committed to our institutions’ continued excellence,” Reyna said.

Reyna joined TAMIU in 2004.  Before coming to TAMIU, he was associate registrar and associate director of admissions at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He holds a master of science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

TACRAO is a nonprofit, voluntary, professional educational association of cooperating collegiate level institutions with over 170-member institutions and over 1,100 active members. Its purpose is to advance professionally the work in the offices of admissions, records, registration and other related functions among institutions of higher learning.

Reyna will lead elected officers including Jamie Hansard, senior associate director of undergraduate Admissions, Texas Tech University, as TACRAO’s vice president for Admissions, and Gretchen Voight, assistant registrar for academic ceremonies at Southern Methodist University, as TACRAO secretary.

In addition to its Annual Conference, TACRAO hosts focused meetings on issues relevant to higher education for specific member groups and users. It also maintains a listserv and a member-only College Day/Night Program schedule. Its standing committees include Assessment, Auditing, Communications, Community College Issues, Conference Site Election, Graduate and Professional School Relations, High School Relations, Legislative Issues, Technology and others.
