‘The Foreigner’ Visits TAMIU This Weekend

Laredo Theater Guild International (LTGI) opens its third season with the late Larry Shue’s classic comedy “The Foreigner,” about cultural differences, inner courage, and racism, with mistaken identity thrown in for good measure and great comedy.

“The Foreigner” runs through Sunday at Texas A&M International University’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts’ Theatre with performances times Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students with Valid ID and for Senior Citizens. They are available for advance purchase at Foster's located at 1202 Del Mar Boulevard, Suite 101; Blue Top located at 101 Hillside Road #11, as well as at the box office prior to each show. Directed by TAMIU theatre arts instructor Gil Martínez and produced by Linda L. Howland, “The Foreigner” is a two-time Obie Award winner and Outer Critics Circle Award winner for Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production.

The cast features José Flores in the title role, and features John Maxstadt, Kelly B. Fitzgerald, Karol A. Batey, Marco González, Adalberto Chavarría, and Patrick Carroll, along withAlejandro Mejia, Kenneth Duncan, Jr., and Alfonso Galván.

Other LTGI shows currently planned are Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” opening February 2, 2012 and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” in July 2012, followed by “The Heiress,” opening October 2012.
