Make plans to attend the opening reception Thursday, Jan. 26 for the Texas A&M International University Faculty Show Exhibit at the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery (CFPA.)

Admission is free and open to the public.

The exhibition showcases drawings, paintings, photos, prints, ceramics, sculpture, and new media created by current TAMIU Faculty and Adjunct professors.

Full-time TAMIU faculty members whose works will be showcased in the exhibition are Alma Haertlein, associate professor of Art; Nicole Foran, assistant professor of Art; David Bogus, assistant professor of Art and Marcela Moran, assistant professor of communication. Adjunct faculty Angela Carbone and John Hickey will also show their work.

Opening reception is Thursday, Jan. 26 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the CFPA Gallery Lobby.  Admission is free and open to the public.

This is the first faculty exhibit held at TAMIU in over 5 years.

“It is a very exciting opportunity for us to showcase what we do for the benefit of our students and the community,” said Foran, “There is no overarching theme to the exhibit, because we are all working in different media and with different subject matter, however you will find connections within the individual bodies of work of the artists.”

The reception provides an opportunity to meet with the artists and speak with them directly about their work and support Laredo’s creative community. All art sales directly benefit student scholarships.

Both Bogus and Foran are currently exhibiting works at a national level from their respective series. Bogus has an upcoming show in Denton. One of Foran’s prints showcased at the exhibit is currently being shown at the Janet Turner Print Museum in California.

Works will be displayed from Monday, Jan. 23 through Friday, March 2 at the TAMIU Art Gallery in the CFPA.

The Gallery is open Monday – Thursday, 9 – 5 p.m. and by appointment.
