TAMIU Presents Career Fair Focused on Business, Hospitality Feb. 29 – March 3

If you are looking for a career enhancing opportunity, Texas A&M International University’s 2012 Business and Hospitality Career Fair awaits you Wednesday, Feb. 29 – Tuesday, March 6.

The multi-day event, filled with opportunities designed to improve job seekers’ marketability as they begin or shift their career is open to TAMIU students, alumni and the community free of charge.

TAMIU President Dr. Ray Keck said that the University’s 300-acre campus provides the ideal setting to bring together a diverse population of job seekers and local, state and national business leaders.

“TAMIU is proud to host this event and to serve as a valuable resource for employment and internship opportunities,” Dr. Keck said, “I invite attendees to take advantage of the Career Fair prep days and networking opportunities as well as the job fair, all of which have been especially prepared with their needs in mind.”    

Laura Martínez, TAMIU director of employer relations, said everyone is invited to the Career Fair Kick-off Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Office of Career Services, located in Student Center 114.

“The Kick-off will be an opportunity to meet with Office of Career Services staff to find out about new and exciting changes to come such as the opening of the Career Café, a career lounge area, which is coming in the summer,” Martínez said, “Staff will also share information about the events planned for the Career Fair.”

Other Career Fair dates and activities follow:

THURSDAY & FRIDAY, MARCH 1-2, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Office of Career Services

Attendees are encouraged to visit with any of the Career Advisors in preparation for the job fair or to discuss any other career related matter.  Staff will be on hand to assist with résumé reviews, interviewing skills and professional attire.  Participants are encouraged to drop by the Career Service Office for individualized consultation.  No appointment necessary; consultations will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.

TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 1-4 p.m., Student Center Rotunda (1st floor and 2nd floor)

Job Fair. A total of 22 employers representing the corporate sector, will feature booths. Participants are encouraged to bring their résumés. Business attire is required.

Tuesday, March 6 at various times and locations

Guest Speaker. Ambassador Ronald K. McMullen, Diplomat in Residence at University of Texas at Austin, will speak about fellowships and internships available at the U.S. Department of State. Presentation times are: 1:30 p.m. (Student Center Ballroom), 4:30 p.m. (Bob Bullock Hall 118), and 6 p.m. (Western Hemispheric Trade Center 103).
