Hone your leadership skills and represent a student body of more than 7,000 students during the upcoming 2012-13 school year by running for an office for the Texas A&M International University Student Government Association. Applications are available at tamiu.edu/studentaffairs/sgal.

Deadline to turn in application packets (application, information sheet, picture and 100 current TAMIU student signatures—graduate or undergraduate) is Friday, March 23, 2012, at 4:30 p.m. in the Office of Student Affairs, Student Center 226.

“Students are encouraged to apply and run for office and showcase their leadership skills. In addition, students will serve on various University-wide and SGA committees—making decisions that affect all TAMIU students,” said Miguel A. Treviño, associate director, Office of Student Affairs.

In addition, two students will be selected to serve on the Chancellor Student Advisory Council, a student governing body that represents students from all Texas A&M University System schools. The Council meets periodically to go over challenges and opportunities and also serves as a great avenue to understand University functions and serve as ambassadors to student needs and concerns.

  • All candidates must have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.75 and be in good standing with the University.
