Beloved ‘Cri-Cri’ Returns to TAMIU to Perform April 20-21

The performance, which celebrates the music of Francisco Gabilondo Soler, Mexican composer and performer of hundreds of children’s songs, will be at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre. General admission is $5. Children 10 years old and under and students with a valid student ID enter free.

Soler created ‘Cri-Cri’ in 1932 in Veracruz, México as a musical radio show to teach children positive values. The legacy of his music continues to live to this day.

The concert includes performances by TAMIU students who are currently enrolled in the University’s dance program. They will perform in a variety of dance styles such as tap, flamenco and folklórico.

 The dancers will perform as costumed characters from a variety of Soler’s classic songs including “Caminito a la escuela” (The Little Walk to School), “El ratón vaquero” (The Cowboy Mouse), “Los Enanos Toreros” (The Little Bullfighters) and 24 other favorites.
