Texas A&M International University will host a historic Eagle Ford Shale Stakeholders Summit, “Maximizing Resources through Regional Partnerships” Oct. 23.

TAMIU president Dr. Ray Keck said the idea for the Summit was first brought to him by State Senator Judith Zaffirini.

“She envisioned a no-cost opportunity to engage key academics, educators, economists and industry experts alongside regional and state leaders and stakeholders to really look at the benefits and the challenges the Eagle Ford Shale development represents,” Dr. Keck explained.

“The University is honored to be able to host this historic opportunity to dialogue on the profound resources of Eagle Ford Shale and how they can best be maximized through partnership,” Dr. keck added.

Among speakers scheduled to present at the Summit are Dr. Richard Haut, Houston Advanced Research Center; Melisa D. Montemayor, Texas Department of Transportation; Dr. Nancy W. Dickey, Texas A&M Health Science Center; J. R. Reddish, S&B Infrastructure, and Dr. Thomas Tunstall, University of Texas at San Antonio Institute for Economic Development, among others.

A Legislative Panel will include Senator Zaffirini, Representative Richard Raymond, Representative Ryan Guillen and Representative Tracy King.  Regional leadership representatives will include Judge Jim Huff from Live Oaks County, Cotulla City Manager Larry Dovalina and Carrizo Springs Independent School District Superintendent Deborah Dobie.
