Steinway Series Features Brahms Feb. 24

Enjoy “An Evening of Brahms” at the next installment of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Steinway Series, Sunday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Dr. Larysa Davis, TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences department of Fine and Performing Arts instructor of music, is the featured pianist for the recital. The program includes music by Johannes Brahms, one of the three classical composers well known by his inclusion among the “Three Bs” triumvirate of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

A Ukraine native of Finnish and Ukrainian descent, Dr. Davis holds a doctoral degree in piano performance from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

She has received several awards and grants, including a 2010 grant for the Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach, Austria and winning second place at the American Protégé International Competition in Romantic Music in 2012.

Davis is a member of numerous professional organizations, has performed in the U.S. Austria, Japan, Turkey and the Ukraine, and speaks four languages.
