Take an active part in what goes on at Texas A&M International University and apply now for one of the 2013-2014 Student Government Association (SGA) Officers Elections.

Deadline to apply is Monday, March 25.

Applications are available online at https://tamiu.collegiatelink.net/form/start/19485

Student Government Association members collaborate with fellow students, University officials, and counterparts on issues which have overreaching impact on students at TAMIU and across the state. Students also serve on University-wide committees, work with parliamentary procedures, file bills, and budget monies allocated to the organization.

They represent the voice of the students.

In February, current SGA members met with students and staff from a counterpart organization representing the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) in México.

“The meeting of the student groups focused on sharing best practices including ideas, structures and student engagement,” said Gerardo Alva, director, Office of Student Affairs.

Collaboration and commitment to their respective schools was a central theme at the various meetings.

“Leaders of both organizations are developing goals for a continued partnership and expansion of the current relationship,” Alva added.

Elections for the upcoming SGA Officers will start at midnight on Monday, April 8 and end midnight on Thursday, April 11.
