Step into spring at the upcoming Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) annual Spring Band Concert Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Concert features the TAMIU Symphonic Band and the new TAMIU Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. James A. Moyer, director of band and percussion studies. This will be the debut performance for the TAMIU Percussion Ensemble.

Friday’s program includes Jerry Bilik’s “Block M. March,” “Colonial Airs and Dances” by Robert Jager, “Fanfare and Jubiloso” by James Curnow, “The Enterprise Overture” by Paul Whear and “Concertino for Tuba and Band” by Frank Bencriscutto.

Dr. Moyer offered other interesting program insights.

“This concert is the start of several new traditions at TAMIU. This is the debut performance for the TAMIU Percussion Ensemble and every Spring Band Concert will now showcase our music faculty,” he explained, “Our first faculty showcase will feature John Reimund on tuba as a soloist.”
