The establishment of the Annual Emerging Leaders Celebration is a testament to Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) diligent work towards achieving its mission of preparing students for leadership roles in an increasingly complex, culturally diverse state, national, and global society.

The 2nd Annual Emerging Leaders Celebration takes place Friday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Auditorium (SC 236).  TAMIU students will be recognized for their participation and completion of specific leadership opportunities including those in the Recreational Sports Leadership Journey, Freshman Leadership Organization (FLO), Sophomores Leaders Involved in Change (SLIC), Leadership TAMIU, Honor Council and TAMIU Trailblazers, to name a few.

TAMIU leadership programs provide opportunities for students eager to make a difference and learn more about themselves to become leaders now and in the future.

Associate director of Student Activities and Leadership Miguel Angel Treviño explained the significance of the Emerging Leaders Celebrations.

“It signifies the culminating event of what our students have committed to and showcases what they have done throughout the year.  It also demonstrates what the University has done to make leadership a part of everything we do,” Treviño said.

Over 100 students will be recognized at the Celebration.  These distinguished students have been dynamically involved with leadership programs headed by the Office of Student Affairs as well as programs in other parts of the University.  The event is the closing ceremony for students that have made the commitment to serve as future leaders of TAMIU and the world.
