Local and area businesses can gain insight on new economic opportunities with the State of Texas Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 8 a.m. – 12 noon at Texas A&M International University’s Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center, room 101.

The “Texas Wants YOUR Business: Economic Opportunity Forum” will be hosted by The Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) coordinators and the TAMIU Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

It is free of charge and open to the public.

Present at the meeting will be representatives from all TAMUS members, LCC, UISD, LISD, Webb County and the City, as well as local and surrounding area HUB vendors.  Forum attendees will be able to visit with potential State of Texas business partners and learn how to tap into this large market for services and products.

Presenting at the Forum will be Paul Gibson, Statewide HUB program manager for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and Curtis G. Mohler, senior business development specialist, SBDC Procurement Technical Assistance Center.  Networking and exhibitor visits will also be possible.

TAMIU-SBDC members will be on hand to help vendors get certified through special coursework opportunities that focus on becoming HUB certified, the benefits of HUB certification and how to maximize it.
