This Fall at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), students and TAMIU alumni will find a powerfully upgraded email system that can turbo-charge their email experience.

TAMIU vice president of information technology and chief information officer Dr. Leebrian Gaskins said the upgrade is the latest student innovation on campus.

“We’re committed to providing our students with the most robust email experience with powerful email, web and collaboration tools that will help them work faster while gaining valuable technology skills focused on their futures,”  Dr. Gaskins explained.

The upgrade, known as Microsoft 365 retains favorite Office features online while allowing student users to create sophisticated reports and presentations, real-time collaborations with classmates and the sharing and editing of documents from smartphone or tablet, PC or Mac, Gaskins explained.

In addition to expanded students and alumni email capabilities, the upgrade includes file sharing with SharePoint Online and instant messaging and online meetings via Lync Online.  Of special interest is the provision of two accounts for each student:  one exclusively for TAMIU email and the other a personal (private) account.  The upgrade began Aug. 5 and should be completed by Aug. 20.

For more information about the upgrade, students should contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk at 956.326.2310 or hotline@tamiu.edu
