Chronicle of Higher Ed Names TAMIU Fourth in Nation Among Fastest-Growing Campuses

The Chronicle of Higher Education has named Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) among the nation’s fastest-growing public master’s institutions in its “Almanac of Higher Education 2013.”

TAMIU was named fourth in the nation in recognition of its 108.6% enrollment growth.  Of the 20 fastest growing public research campuses, six were in Texas. TAMIU was the only A&M campus included in the public master’s institutions category. Other A&M campuses ranking in other categories included TAMU-Kingsville and TAMU-Commerce.

The survey tracked enrollment growth at each institution from 2001 to 2011 and was based on total head count of full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students.

Last Fall, TAMIU’s enrollment was 7,213 with 6,384 students undergraduates and 829 graduate/doctoral.

Fall 2013 classes at TAMIU begin Wednesday, Aug. 28.            

Students have the opportunity to pursue more than 70 degree programs available from four Colleges, including the newly launched Bachelor’s of Multi-Disciplinary Studies.  A new Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences with a Criminal Justice Concentration (BAAS-CJ) is also available.

New graduate degree options include a Master’s in Nursing Administration.

Online or onsite classes for the Fall number 1,170.

TAMIU students can also tap into study abroad opportunities in more than 50 countries. The popular “Reading the Globe Program”  will offer select students a chance to travel to South Africa this year.

There are more than 20,000 TAMIU graduates worldwide.
