Texas A&M International University recently initiated a collaborative agreement with La Universidad Pan Americana (UP), located in Mexico City, D.F.

The agreement was finalized during a visit by an administrative team from the UP to TAMIU.

TAMIU president Dr. Ray Keck said that as an international university, TAMIU actively seeks out such opportunities and collaborations.

“It’s in our name, it’s in our DNA to forge such collaborations, which afford both students and faculties from participating campuses truly remarkable learning, teaching and research opportunities,” Dr. Keck said.

Dr. Pablo Arenaz, TAMIU provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said the memorandum of agreement puts in place a foundational structure for a number of collaborative educational program initiatives between the two universities.

“Among these are exchanges of both faculty and students, collaborative research, exchange of educational materials and databases, joint sponsorships of conferences and symposiums and joint and dual degree programs.  The latter part of TAMIU’s enabling legislation,” Dr. Arenaz explained.

Representing UP at the agreement’s finalization were Director Adjunto de Rectoría, Antonio Castro Di Franchis and Director, Escuela de Ciencias Económicas, Pedro Salicrup Río de la Loza.

UP has three México campuses in Guadalajara, Aguascalientes and Mexico City, D.F.  The Mexico City campus is located in Santa Fe, the heart of the capital city’s bustling business center. Each campus offers different programs reflective of student needs with 33 degrees available at the various campuses.
