TAMIU Celebrates Students with “Welcome Week”

Final preparations are in place for the Texas A&M International University “2013 Fall Welcome Week” and “iWeek” held the first two weeks of classes starting Tuesday, Aug. 27 and concluding Thursday, Sept. 5.

The events, which consist of games, food and live entertainment, help new students make the transition to University life.

During “Welcome Week” from Tuesday, Aug. 27 – Thursday, Aug. 29, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., students can stop by the information tent located between Dr. F.M. Canseco Hall (CH) and Anthony J. and Georgia A. Pellegrino Hall (PH) for bottled water and a campus map.

Other events include:

Thursday, Aug. 29: Hypnotist CJ Johnson, Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) Recital Hall, 7 p.m.

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to become involved in any of the growing number of campus organizations during iWeek, scheduled from Monday, Sept. 2 – Thursday, Sept. 5.

Monday, Sept. 2: iLead and iGoGreek—recruitment/information tables/TAMIU Trailblazers, SC rotunda, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Intramurals and U (recreational sports information booth), between PH and CH, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Also, Freshman Leadership Organization (FLO), Sophomore Leaders Involved in Change (SLIiC) and Leadership TAMIU (LT) applications are due by 5 p.m. FLO applications are at https://tamiu.collegiatelink.net/form/start/22516; SLIiC applications are at https://tamiu.collegiatelink.net/form/start/22519; LT applications are at https://tamiu.collegiatelink.net/form/start/22520.

Tuesday, Sept. 3: iDiscover—study abroad fair, SC rotunda, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Greek Council barbecue, RLC, 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 4: iServe Fair—volunteer services fair, SC rotunda, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Greek Council showcase, Kinesiology-Convocation Building (KCB) lawn, 7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 5: iEngage—student organization fair, SC rotunda, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
