TAMIU Hosts Conference on Mexico Energy Reform, Opportunities Nov. 18
In a matter of days, the Mexican government will announce the extent of its planned energy reforms focused on opening its state-run oil and gas industry to competition and private investment.
The reforms are expected to boost Mexico’s declining energy industry and US companies are expected to benefit greatly. In addition to offshore drilling, among the areas of greatest interest are shale discoveries said to rival Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale.
On Monday, Nov. 18 Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Binational Center will host a Conference, “Mexican Energy Reform and Industrial America,” from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center building, room 101.
The Conference will focus on opportunities available to the US industry and an explanation of the impact of the reforms for the international petroleum/gas economy.

The Conference will open at 8:30 a.m. and features presentations through 10:30 a.m. by Juan Acra, president of the Energy Commission COPARMEX and vice president of Consejo Coordinador Empresarial; Javier Zenteno Barrios, Asociación Mexicana de Empresas de Servicios Petrolero (AMESPAC); Juan Carlos Solis Mendoza, Barra Mexicana de Abogados and Dr. Ernesto Marcos Giacoman, president of AMESPAC. A question and answer session will follow through noon.
