Sunday: TAMIU Hosts Cheer, Dance Fest

Support local cheer and dance talent at the Second Annual Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Cheer and Dance Fest Competition Sunday, Jan. 19 in the Kinesiology and Convocation Building.

General admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children and free for children 2 years old and younger.

The solo dance division is scheduled from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. The duet dance division will meet at 10:35 a.m. and the officer line division will perform at 10:45 a.m. The trio dance division will compete from 10:50 – 11:05 a.m. Awards for solo, duet and trio divisions will be given out at 11:20 a.m.

The dance division groups will compete from noon – 2:50 p.m. Awards will be issued at 2:55 p.m.

The cheer divisions will start at 3:30 p.m. Tumbling and non-tumbling divisions will perform between 4:05 and 5:25 p.m. All-star division will compete from 5:30 – 6:05 p.m. Awards will be handed out at 6:20 p.m.

The TAMIU Cheerleaders Spirit Section will perform at 6:10 p.m.

Last year, the members of the TAMIU Cheerleading Squad placed second in their Division at the NCA College National Championship finals in Daytona Beach, Fla.
