The Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Office of Continuing Education will offer two Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) program sessions for women during the Spring 2014 semester.

The R.A.D. system is a program designed to teach women realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. It promotes awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance.

The R.A.D. system will provide basic hands-on defense training taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors. Women will undergo simulation training, develop physical defense skills and receive a R.A.D. Basic Physical Defense Participant Manual.

Two sessions will be provided to accommodate participants’ needs. The first session begins Monday and Tuesday Feb. 3, 4, 10, and 11 from 6 – 9 p.m. The second session starts  Saturday, April 12 and continues April 19, 26, and May 3 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The program is open to the public for a $50 registration fee.

TAMIU students, faculty and staff can register for free. There is no age minimum, however, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a female adult (mother, aunt, sister, etc.).
