TAMIU Continues Cesar Chavez Blood Drive Challenge

In partnership with the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC), Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will host its annual Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Tuesday- Thursday, March 25-27.

STBTC bloodmobiles will be stationed in front of the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library March 25 – 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

TAMIU students are competing with college and university students across the US as part of the National Cesar E. Chavez Bloor Drive Challenge, founded in 2009.  TAMIU has previously won a first and second place in past Challenges.

TAMIU students hope to gather at least 204 units of lifesaving blood. TAMIU alumni and University employees can also participate in the Challenge.  Nationwide, the Challenge hopes to enlist the giving and support of up to 30,000 donors.

STBTC is a nonprofit community blood center specializing in a variety of services. Blood Services provides blood, plasma, platelets and other blood components to over 67 hospitals in 43 South Texas counties. STBTC has seven donor rooms in South Texas and conducts multiple mobile blood drives each week.
