TAMIU Students Head for Study Abroad, Travel the World this Summer

Follow along as Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students travel and study in Italy, London, Madrid, Belgium and Germany, Greece, Netherlands, France, Czech Republic, Thailand, Malaysia, China, and Laos this summer and share their experiences on social media.

The students are participants in the TAMIU Office Student Affairs International Engagement.

The London group, led by Dr. James Norris, associate professor/director, political science and sociology, will take courses in criminal justice and forensic psychology during Maymester, May 19 – June 6. Students will participate in a combination of lectures and field excursions to enhance their understanding of the British justice system and to contrast criminal behavior and forensics psychology. Field excursions include: Inns of Court, a guided Jack the Ripper walk, prison visit, the Museum of London, the Tower of London and more. The TAMIU College of Education will offer a Study Abroad program, led by Dr. Diana Linn, associate professor/interim chair, with students spending time in Madrid observing and teaching at local schools. The College of Education will offer a kinesiology program in Athens, Greece, June 15 – July 6, led by Linda Villarreal, visiting instructor. Students will learn about the sport history of Greece and how it had a profound influence on physical education and sport programs in the United States.  Field excursions include visits to Olympia, Delphi and the Acropolis. Follow them at https://www.facebook.com/GreeceCOEDstudyabroad

The TAMIU College of Arts and Sciences will offer a program for students to study psychology, criminal justice and communication in Belgium and Germany June 2 – July 5 led by Dr. José C. Lozano, chair, psychology and communication. Students will have a combination of lectures and field excursions to enhance their understanding of the culture, media and higher education. The College will also offer a Photography and Cinema Program July 14 – Aug. 14 in Rome and Florence led by Marcela Moran, associate professor, communication. Students will learn about Italian culture while creating visuals and learning about the country’s cinema and art.
