TAMIU Young Arts Program Registration Thursday

Parents of budding artists can register their children for Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Center for the Fine and Performing Arts’ (CFPA) Young Arts Program now for Fall classes.

Children’s classes for ballet folklórico, dance, piano and voice begin early September and will continue through December, said Bede Leyendecker, CFPA chair.

Classes for adults are also available for a variety of dance techniques, group and private piano and voice and yoga, among others.

On-site registration will be Thursday, Aug. 28, from 4-7 p.m. at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA), room 122 for dance classes and room 211 for piano.

Ballet Folklórico Juevenil classes for 5 to 12-year-olds begin Friday, Sept. 5 and meet Fridays, from 5 – 6 p.m. Tuition is $190 for Fall and $240 for the Spring semester.

Dance classes for ages 2-12 start Monday, Sept. 1 and meet once a week, from 4-5:30 p.m. on days assigned per age level. Tuition is $50 per month or $190 for Fall and $240 for Spring, Leyendecker said.

Dance technique classes for teens and adults include those in ballet, flamenco, jazz, hip-hop and yoga and also begin Monday, Sept. 1. Classes meet at various times depending on the type of class, level, and number of classes per week desired. Tuition varies from $45 - $95 per month depending on the number of classes desired per week.

Piano classes, starting Monday, Sept. 1, are offered in group or privately, for various levels for ages 5 to adult once per week. Group piano lessons are $50 per month, or $190 for Fall and $240 for Spring.

Private piano classes, ranging in lesson time from 30 to 60 minutes per week, vary in tuition, from $65 -$250 per month.

Private voice lessons, starting Monday, Sept. 1, will be offered for ages 13 to adult and classes meet once per week. Ages 9 to 13 will be accepted by audition only. Monthly tuition, depending on lesson time duration, range from $125 to $250.
