The Chronicle of Higher Education has once again named Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) among the nation’s fastest-growing public master’s institutions in its “Almanac of Higher Education 2014.”

TAMIU was ranked eighth in the nation in recognition of its 93.7% enrollment growth.  TAMIU was the only Texas A&M University System campus included in the Public Master’s Institutions category and only the second Texas institution recognized in the Top 20.  TAMIU was also ranked in the 2013 Almanac edition.

TAMIU president Dr. Ray Keck said the repeat ranking reaffirms the University’s commitment to its mission.

The Chronicle of Higher Education is academia’s foremost news publication and we are indeed excited to see that our growth is recognized and reaffirms our mission to bring higher education to our service communities, region, state and beyond,” Dr. Keck observed.

Based on US Department of Education data, the survey tracked enrollment growth at each institution from Fall 2002 to Fall 2012.  It includes total headcount of full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students.  Percentages were rounded, but institutions are ranked based on unrounded figures.

Only U.S. degree-granting institutions with at least 500 students in 2002 were included. Growth at some colleges reflects online-only students, and is not reported separately from on-campus students. Categories are those issued by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 2010.

The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Almanac” survey is available here.

Last Fall, TAMIU’s enrollment was 7,431 including 6,585 undergraduates and 846 graduate/doctoral students.

Fall 2014 classes at TAMIU begin Wednesday, Aug. 27. Beginning this Fall, undergraduate students can lock in their tuition and fees with the University’s Fixed Tuition and Fee Plan, which guarantees tuition and fees for four years for most majors, for a total of 12 consecutive semesters.

TAMIU students have the opportunity to pursue more than 70 degree programs available from four Colleges. TAMIU students can also tap into study abroad opportunities in more than 50 countries, student community service and internship programs and join over 90 student clubs and organizations.

There are more than 22,000 TAMIU graduates worldwide.
