A  new Agreement between Laredo Community College (LCC) and Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) streamlines the transfer of  LCC students into TAMIU’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering Program.

“This Agreement exemplifies the commitment and vision that LCC and TAMIU share to make higher education as seamless as possible in our respective service areas.  We’re especially excited about this accord because student interest in this major is strong on both of our campuses and job prospects for graduates are tremendous,” said Dr. Pablo Arenaz, TAMIU provost and vice president for academic affairs.

LCC President Dr. Juan L. Maldonado concurred.

“This agreement allows LCC students an opportunity to have a seamless transfer to the Systems Engineering Program offered at TAMIU.  It assures our students who follow the prescribed plan in the Agreement that every course they take at LCC will be used at TAMIU and apply directly into the Systems Engineering Program.  It will save the students time and money by staying focused on the engineering career track.  As always, we are elated with the great working relationship that LCC has with TAMIU to make these type of agreements possible,” Maldonado said.

The Agreement facilitates the transfer of students in LCC’s Pre-Engineering Course of Study into TAMIU’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering, and governs course transfer and mapping and Core Curriculum satisfaction. Admitted students are encouraged to work closely with academic and transfer advisors and be knowledgeable of all degree requirements and provisions as codified in the Agreement.

In 2011, the two institutions signed an agreement that guides a joint admissions program between the schools.  That agreement laid a foundation for the creation of extensive articulation agreements in a broad range of majors.
